Celebrities with links to Sydney 's leafy north shore turned out in droves for yesterday's Death of Democracy state funeral procession from Turramurra to Macquarie Street . Wendy Harmer was joined by the likes of television presenter Catriona Rowntree and broadcaster Jono Coleman addressed the crowd. The biggest laughs, however, were reserved for the out-of-town political activist and comedian Rod Quantock , best known for his 18 years as the face of the bed retailer Captain Snooze. He came from Melbourne for the event. ''One thing I have always admired NSW for is your level of political corruption … it is a remarkable model for the rest of the nation,'' he said. Quantock handed out chalk sticks and called on the crowd to write the ir names and messages of protest on the footpath.
